Biography

Mateusz Kusznierewicz was born on 29 April, 1975 in Warsaw. He is the most accomplished Polish sailor. The first Pole to win an Olympic medal in sailing. An Olympic champion from Atlanta. Bronze medalist at the Olympic Games in Athens. Five-time participant of the Olympic Games. Several times a European champion and a world champion. Awarded the highest state awards.

Optimist

The first yacht of Mateusz Kusznierewicz was Optimist. His sailing career began in 1984 at the age of 9 during a summer holiday sailing camp at Zegrze Lake at the Yacht Club of Poland Warsaw. The best result of Mateusz was the 12th place at the Three Fish Cup regatta in Giżycko. During the National Youth Spartakiade in 1987 he took 24th place. He finished sailing on Optimist at the age of 14.

OKD

He first showed his talent in 1990 when he returned from the junior world championships in OK Dinghy class with a gold medal. Soon he won the title of European champion in this class as well, and twice the title of vice-champion of the world.

Finn

In 1992, Mateusz „moved over” to the Olympic Finn class in which he represented Poland in the three consecutive Olympics Games. He won the gold medal in Atlanta in 1996 – the first Olympic medal in the history of Polish sailing. Four years later, in Sydney, he was fourth. At the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece in 2004 he won the bronze.
His resume in this class also includes two world champion titles and a world vice-champion title. He also triumphed at the European Championships, and has won three silver medals. He has won the title of Polish champion in this class as many as ten times, and has won the World Cup series regattas more than thirty times. He was classified in the top three of the World Cup for 10 years in a row.

Star

In the spring of 2005 Mateusz begun a campaign to Beijing in Star class, in which he created a crew together with Dominik Życki. The Kusznierewicz/Życki team achieved excellent results from the start, quickly advancing to world leaders of this elite sailing class. In 2007, they rose up to the 1st place of the ISAF World Ranking. The team stood on the highest step of the podiums at World Cup Championships, European Championships, and three times won the title of Polish champions in the Star class.

SSL

Star Sailors League (SSL) is an international series of regattas organized to promote athletes and sailing in an innovative and simple format. With the help of nearly 200 international Star class competitions, SSL has managed to create a unique world ranking of both the skippers and the crewmen. The winners emerges through the knock-out system. The goal is to qualify and of course to win in the grand final, which traditionally takes place in December in the Bahamas.

RC44

In 2009 Mateusz created the Organika Sailing Team, who on RC44 class yacht took part in a series of regattas around the world for three consecutive seasons. During this class’ competitions, races are played out in the fleet format and the match-racing formula.

ŻPT

Żeglarski Puchar Trójmiasta (Tri-City Sailing Cup) is an event that opens the sailing season in the Bay of Gdansk. The regattas are traditionally held during the last weekend of May. The hosts of the regattas are the cities of Gdansk, Sopot and Gdynia. Sailors visit them during the three days of regattas. The event is organized by the Pomeranian Sailing Association on the initiative of Mateusz Kusznierewicz and Kasper Orkisz.

Mateusz Kusznierewicz’s dream is to sail around the world on an ocean sailing yacht under the Polish flag. Can he fulfill this dream – we shall see.

Sailing

Mateusz Kusznierewicz represented Poland at five Olympics Games. His biggest accomplishments include: winning a gold and a bronze Olympic medals, three world titles, four European Championships. For 19 years he was a member of the Polish Yachting Association Olympic team.
In 1999 Mateusz received the prestigious ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year award.
At the end of 2004 he was awarded the title of “Sailor of all time.” He was also selected for the Polish sailor of the twentieth century. Member of the Yacht Club Sopot, Gdansk Sailing Club and the Yacht Club of Poland Warsaw.
He ended his olympic career after the Olympic Games in London in 2012, without giving up the sport altogether. Successfully competing in the prestigious Star Sailors League series of regattas with Dominik Życki. Is currently involved in preparations for the trip around the world on an ocean sailing yacht under the Polish flag.

Lectures

Sports and business have a lot in common, because to succeed, both require the same important skills and values: setting goal, motivation, teamwork, regularity, ability to cope with failures and learning constructive conclusions from them.

As a trainer and a lecturer he has a record of over 800 public appearances. His attendance is a perfect complement to training employees of companies and institutions. His appearances, being great inspiration, are built on the basis of extensive experience and real-life examples.
Mateusz lectures on motivation, change management, teamwork and personal development.

Kusznierewicz Academy

The Academy was created from the needs of the heart, passion for sports, based on experiences that Mateusz has collected during his many years of sailing career. While traveling around the world, he observed and recorded the best and most interesting examples of lessons, sports and sailing practices directed at children, youths and adults. The Academy teaches with example, inspires, encourages teamwork co-operation. Strengthens motivation, cares for good communication, teaching planning, using imagination and also how to cope with difficult situations.
Kusznierewicz Academy runs sports camps for children and the youth, it also organizes company events. All in a spirit of fun, through a skilfully prepared programme carried out by qualified personnel.

ZOOM.ME

Mateusz’s activity in the sector of new technologies begun in 2014, though the interest in this area appeared much earlier. The inspiration to create ZOOM.ME came through playing with his  daughter Natasha. Necessity and a dream became a motivation for creating of a completely new device on the market. In less than a year after having the idea, Mateusz assembles a team who developed the device and the ZOOM.ME software, which appeared on the market after its premiere in October 2014. They are digital picture frames, onto which photos can be uploaded directly from smartphones via a mobile application.

Eventory

Eventory is a professional and comprehensive platform for event management and at the same time a social networking application for conferences, assemblies or events. Eventory helps organizers in smooth running of the event, raises the standards of events and increases the satisfaction of participants. Eventory consists of components such as a mobile application, website creator, newsletter panel for event participants, or a tool for collecting statistics and their analysis.
Mateusz Kusznierewicz works at Eventory as the of Head of Marketing.
